In 1957 the new Symphony Orchestra was founded by the decree of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ministry of Culture USSR, having joined the musical collectives of All-Soviet Union Radio. The guidance of the collective was taken by Samuil Abramovich Samosud (1884-1964)

In the 60th the Orchestra was led by various conductors such as A. V. Kovalev and E. A. Akulov. The orchestra has also invited outstanding conductors of the time - E. Svetlanov and B. Khaikin, N. Rachlin and K. Eliasberg, A. Dmitriev, U. Simonov and M. Ermler, F. Mansurov and V. Esipov, N. Jarvi and R. Matsov, G. Provatorov and V. Kozhukhar and much more. There also were some foreign conductors – J. Sequeria (Brazil), F. Mannino (Italy), A. Corodi (Hungary), J. Ferenchik (Poland), A. Calderon (Argentina) and others to perform with them.

There was a question who would become the main conductor. The Yaroslavl conductor, the graduate of Leningrad Conservatory – Y. Aranovich – became.

On the first December 1971, the first concert of the choir was held. At the beginning there were the students of Moscow State Conservatory; then the lineup of choristers was extended. From the first concerts the choir got the gravitas among professionals and amateurs.
1975

In the international competition of polyphonic choirs "Guido d`Arezzo" in Italy in August 1975 the Moscow musicians were awarded gold and bronze medals and their conductor - Valery Polansky - was named the best conductor of the contest.

In 1971 the orchestra was led by Maxim Dmitrievich Shostakovich and soon Irkutsk, Bratsk, Chita, Khabarovsk, Komsomolsk-na-amur and Vladivostok heard the Sviridov "Pathetic Oratory" and Shostakovich Symphony No 15. The overcrowded hall in Irkutsk was announced: "the third performance in the USSR".

The beginning of a new period in the history of the orchestra
In 1982, Gennady Rozhdestvensky became the principal conductor who sustained into the musicians a new creative starting, attracted new young musicians, and the orchestra grew up to 100 musicians, becoming one of the most outstanding collective of Moscow.

The next period in the history of the USSR State Chamber Choir under Valery Polyansky and State Symphony Orchestra of USSR Ministry of Culture headed by Gennady Rozhdestvensky started in 1991 and continues up till now. But this is the biography of The State Symphony Capella of Russia.

In 1992, Valery Kuzmich Polyansky became a new artistic director of the Capella.

The choir has its own creative autonomy. It performs some a capella programs, visits different cities of Russia - such as Tarusa, Torzhok, Tver, Tula, Vladimir, Yaroslavl, Ryazan, Skopin, Yasnaya Polyana, Lipetsk, Elez, Saratov. It tours some foreign countries - Italy, Hongkong, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and the USA. The Capella drew attention by its performance of Rachmaninoff ``All Night Vigil`` in 1991 in Royal Albert Hall (London) and in 1994 Gewandhaus (Leipzig). The orchestra also continues to save its own creative autonomy, actively participating in Moscow concert life. The artists of the Orchestra have always performed in the Tchaikovsky competition (vocalists, cellist), in festival ``Moscow Autumn`` and others. The orchestra has its own repertoire, concert tours and records.

Baroque, classics, romanticism, modern music scores of the 20th are in the repertoire of the Capella. And in all cases, as music critics emphasize, musicians led by Polyansky succeed in achieving accuracy and clearness of style, while remaining faithful to the spirit of the composition they perform.
